Sockthinking
Finally, I have my sockapalooza pal's details... and now I'm as clever as I was before. Well, I have her size and everything, but no color preferences (nothing! nada!) and there's now way I can find that out on her blog. Grrr! The only thing I know is that the socks shouldn't be too warm as she lives somewhere warm. And now I'm thinking cotton yarn, even though I haven't knitted socks with cotton before. I only heard that it's not ideal as it wears out easily, and I don't want that to happen.
So, what to do? Knit woolen socks anyway, but in a lace pattern with lots of holes? Or try and find some microfibre-kinda yarn? What other materials are good for socks? I found some soy silk mix (with wool) yarn but didn't like the colors much...
Seems like I have some thinking to do.

why not create a free, anonymous email account (at hotmail or gmail or something), and send her an email? Introduce yourself (except stay anonymous) and say you have a couple of questions? :)
s/he'll probably like to hear from you! :)
I've had luck with Cascade Fixation for cotton socks. And lace socks in a light-weight wool are lovely too.
Why not try Panda? And create a secret account with gmail or yahoo. That way you can communicate with her.
i wonder if bamboo is cooler? i think it holds up better than cotton, although i haven't knit with it yet, so i couldn't tell you for sure.
Maybe bamboo? You know it's relatively warm here in Louisiana but I still knit my socks with wool. Good luck!
Maybe I can do it,I'll just has to as permission from the author ( or if she like's to translate herself). But I'll let you know what the result will be.
HI, me again..
There is a translation on designers own blog, wavy socks
Here is link to her blog

I wouldn't recommend cotton sock yarn, at least not the Regia/Opal kind. It's hard to knit and really not at all stretchy. I don't know about the Bamboo. Just swatching I had the same impression. Maybe rather a wool/silk blend? Microfibre sounds good, too. Aren't there cool blends on Ewa's site (Also, Grumperina knows everything about wool sock yarn substitutes, it's somewhere on her site) On the other hand, I think a light weight wool and maybe a lace pattern is just fine for any climate (hotter climate = air condition)
After all, contacting your pal is not a bad idea. I am always so excited when I receive an anonymous email from my secret pals.
